Ela Lourenco, MA Hons, PG Dip

My lifelong interest in mental and emotional well-being led me to qualify as a psychotherapist and I completed my Diploma in Person-centred and Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Edinburgh.

I have also undertaken several professional trainings on mindfulness and complex trauma and am currently working towards becoming a TIST (Trauma Informed Stabilisation Training) certified counsellor with Dr Janina Fisher.

My belief in the importance of beginnings and relationships led me to also train as a Brazelton and as a Bayley practitioner so that I could work with wee ones and their families and support secure attachments.

Confidentiality, ethical practice and transparency are the foundations of my practice. I regularly meet with my clinical supervisor - a requirement for ensuring good ethical practice - however that is also a confidential space and details are anonymised.

On my journey of discovering I have learnt that it is truly “the relationship which heals” (Yalom) and I hope to help my clients find healing first within themselves so that they may enjoy more secure connections with others in their lives. I have a particular interest in childhood and complex trauma.

I have two daughters (and four cats!) and have learnt along the way through personal losses and joys that life happens to us all.
